2012 Run United 2: My Friend’s First10K Run

Last Sunday, despite Typhoon Butchoy, I ran the 10k race of the Run United 2 with my sister and with our friend Pinky.  We were very excited as it was Pinky’s first time to join an organized race.

Pinky is based in Hong Kong and we were so glad that she found time to come to Manila for the weekend. And we were even more happy that her first run was organized by Runrio, a very efficient organizer.

Even though the race started in MOA, we ran a different route.  This time we ran towards the south parallel to the Coastal Road.  As expected of Runrio events, the hydration was overflowing.  Powerade and water in all stations, and bananas in one station for our distance.  Hats off to you Coach Rio!

The weather was perfect.  Just before the race started, the rains completely stopped and we enjoyed a cloudy, windy, and cool run.

First time to cross the finish line:  rewarding moment.

Needless to say, after that morning’s run, Pinky was hooked.  She enjoyed it so much that she is planning to join another race here in the Philippines soon!
