It was the 1st Bull Circle and I was so pleased to have the chance to attend it.
After office hours, I picked up Jehan and we headed straight to Bonifacio High Street. We wanted to get good seats so after eating our early dinner, we headed straight up to Fully Booked’s Top Shelf at 6:30pm.

Then Race Director Neville talked about the history and what training for a marathon can do to us.
Training for a marathon can make us discover our true selves. It makes us edit our lives, to have only what is important and leave behind everything that is not. It also gives us a sense of accomplishment and yet at the same time makes us humble.
It’s really tiring to run the same course every time you train that’s why marathon training can take us to different places. It gives us new challenges. It makes us think about our health like what we eat to fuel our bodies.
Marathon training can give structure to our everyday lives. We develop discipline and character.
Peidippides ran from Marathon to Athens to deliver the message, “Joy to you, we’ve won.” At the end of his talk, Neville asked us, “What message are you sending?”
Next Coach Jim gave his 3 Steps to Achievement. The steps can be applied to running as in any other areas of our lives. First, determine what you want. I want to finish a marathon. Next, determine the price – training for several hours per week and eating correctly. Last, pay the price. No excuses, no shortcuts. If we want to have an enjoyable first marathon, we have to pay the price. Pay the price…Pay the price…I kept repeating it to myself all evening.
Lastly, Coach Lit talked about pacing and time intervals. He encouraged us to use the run/walk method which he proved to be very efficient and effective.
